People that know me formally, from my college years, or work might know me as Katharine (there were always less Katharines, so it helped to differentiate me from others).
People who have known me my whole life typically call me Katie. As a petulant kindergartener I demanded it be my nickname, and it stuck (much to my parents' chagrin because they had always wanted a Kate). Little did I know that there would be five billion Katies around my age, and I would grow to regret my choice... forever lost in a sea of Katies...
My family and closest friends call me Kate because adult me realized I like it better, there are less Kates than Katies, and it sounds like I'm way cooler than I have a right to be (like Kate Winslet, Princess Kate, etc.).
A few special people call me Kat.
But the one name you'll never call me, if you truly know me, is Kathy. I don't really know why, but I have never felt like a Kathy. I don't always know who I am, but I've always known I was NOT a Kathy.
But, you can call me Kate, if you'd like. It's less likely to get misspelled that way (my name gets misspelled A LOT).
I am happily married to my high school crush. Do not mistake this for high school sweetheart. You see, we did not date in high school at all. I just adored him from afar (the internet was really slow back then, so I didn't have the resources to be a stalker). He was a senior, and I was a freshman. He went off to college and left me behind... pining.

Many years later, our paths crossed, and during one of our conversations I brought up my crush as an amusing story to share, and the rest, as the say, is history because we have now been happily married for over a decade and have four beautiful children.
For 17 years, I was a full-time educator and spent most of that time in literacy education between English Language Arts, elementary education, and Library Media Skills, but for the time being, I am focusing on my family and pursuing other interests (also known as substituting from time to time for some fun money and possibly a midlife identity crisis).
Here are a few of my favorite things: things I will probably post about in detail, and maybe even eventually link to those posts from this page if I'm feeling efficient... but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, as I also have ADHD (as discovered in adulthood when my own children's neurodivergence diagnoses helped to reveal why my sanity and all sense of order imploded when I became a mother):
Maybe we have something in common!
Here is a picture of me and my husband at a Halloween party many many moons ago. We were much younger and only dating then, but it goes with the Alice in Wonderland theme.
