About Me

Welcome to my world... My name is Katharine, but you can call me Kate.  It's less likely to get misspelled that way (my name gets misspelled A LOT).

I am happily married to my high school crush.  Do not mistake this for high school sweetheart.  You see, we did not date in high school at all.  I just adored him from afar.  He was a senior, and I was a freshman.  He went off to college and left me behind... pining.  Many years later, our paths crossed, and during one of our conversations I brought up my crush as an amusing story to share, and the rest, as the say, is history because he TOTALLY put a ring on it!  This fall, we will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary!

Here is a picture of me and my husband at a Halloween party years ago.  We were not married in this picture, but we were much thinner and younger back then, and it goes with the Alice in Wonderland theme, so deal with it.

We became parents when I gave birth to our adorable baby boy, Liam.  He is now almost 4, and he is awesome!  :)  We also have a beautiful daughter, Cecelia, who is now 1, and she is amazing!  :)  Life has never been more crazy or wonderful!  :)

I am a schoolteacher.

Fall of 2017 will begin my 10th year of teaching (it makes me feel so old to say that), and I am currently teaching 7th grade English.

Here are a few of my favorite things (as I could talk about each for HOURS, I thought list-form would be most efficient).  I will probably eventually post about each of these in detail, and maybe even eventually link to those posts from this page, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves:

  • Game of Thrones
  • Doctor Who
  • Once Upon a Time
  • Outlander
  • Alice in Wonderland (see above)
  • Tim Burton
  • Scottish actors (Robert Carlyle, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, James McAvoy, Ewan McGregor, David Tennant, Sam Heughan, etc.)
  • British actors (Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tim Roth, etc.)
  • Irish actors (Jamie Dornan, Colin O'Donoghue, etc.)
  • James Maitland Stewart
  • Hallmark
  • Random quotes & facts
  • Writing
  • Cooking
  • Sushi
  • Wine
  • Margaritas
  • Coffee / Tea
  • Amateur web design stuff / Desktop publishing
  • Photography
  • Chocolate
  • Music
  • Day trips
  • Ethnic foods
  • Campfires
  • Board games
  • Book stores
  • Purses/bags
  • My HUGE family (and all the families they are creating to make our family even more HUGE)

I'm sure in the future I will be doing some blog-y list things about myself, so I will probably think of more stuff then.  Until then, enjoy the blog!  I'm not sure what it is yet (other than quite eclectic, like its creator), but I can guarantee that it will not be boring!  I swear sometimes my life is like The Truman Show... that's how unbelievably un-boring and crazy it has a tendency to be (I swear I'm on hidden camera)!

This is all a joke, right? No one's life can be this ridiculous, right? RIGHT?!  WRONG!

Thanks for reading! :) I figured that it might have been you, but I'm glad you clarified because I might have spent a while trying to figure out all the different Elizabeth's I know. :) I really appreciate all of your encouragement! Reading comments like this help to motivate me to keep writing! Thanks again!
